EU Batteries and Accumulators Directive Published

The new battery and accumulators directive has been developed due to the existing legislation only applying to 7% of consumer batteries that are available on the European market containing mercury, lead and cadmium above a certain threshold. The new directive covers all types of batteries and accumulators; it was published in the Official European Journal on 26 September 2006.
