10 Years of UK Community Funding from Landfill Tax Celebrated by WRG

Landfill operators can “fulfill social responsibilities” by generating cash to help community projects, the chief executive of the Waste Recycling Group (WRG) has said.

Jim Meredith, made his comments as he gave a speech at the 10th anniversary party of WREN (Waste Recycling Environmental Limited), in RSA London this week, where he praised the efforts that have seen £100 million awarded to 4,000 projects across the UK in the last decade.

WREN is a body set up by WRG to distribute grants generated from money that landfill operators have reclaimed from the treasury as a tax credit to be awarded to capital projects for communities.

Mr Meredith said: “It allows us to fulfil our social responsibilities and give money back to local communities.” More ….
