Kirkless reopens after fire refurbishment
Kirkless Materials Recycling Facility and Civic Amenity Site in Wigan, which was nearly destroyed last year by fire, is once again fully operational following a £1.5 million refit.
The flagship operation, built and managed by Waste Recycling Group on behalf of Wigan Borough Council, was reopened this week by Mayor Cllr Eunice Smethurst. She was joined by pupils from St George’s Primary School, Atherton, for the ribbon cutting ceremony.
The reopening follows months of rebuilding work at the Makerfield Way site, which is used for the bulking and transfer of residual household waste, collection and sorting of recyclable materials and as a recycling centre for the public. More…
